What Is Google Analytics

Google Analytics is an online tool, which allows you to track and analyze your website traffic.

Google Analytics helps you gain valuable understanding of your audience, which in turn can be used to improve content based on what they are most interested in.

Google Analytics was launched back in 2005 as a way for Google to keep track of their own websites. Google then started offering google analytics to other companies free of charge in order to make it easier for webmasters all over the world.

Today, Google Analytics has grown into one of the leading marketing tools, with more than 25 billion visits tracked every month by website owners using google’s service.

How Google Analytics Work

Google Analytics uses code snippets and JavaScript to record information about visitors on a website. This can be done when someone visits a page, clicks an ad, etc.

Many companies choose to integrate google analytics into their existing website tracking systems. Some are more advanced than others depending on the complexity of your business model – eCommerce, membership sites, or lead generation, for example, can all be accurately tracked by google analytics.

Google Stats Report

Google Analytics allows you to see how visitors come to your website – what search engine, social platform, or Adword led them to your site.

Google Analytics currently supports Google Trends, Google Mobile Search, and Google Play store app (android only). This allows you to create more targeted content based on what people actually look for online.

The data gained from this is often referred to as traffic sources. – Google Analytics also shows you how many times a specific page has been viewed on your site. These are known as visits or sessions.

Google sends an additional request to the Google Analytics tracking code each time someone clicks through to another page on your site (i.e., from a google search result to an article). This allows you to create better navigational content.

Google Analytics also sends information about the type of device and browser being used by your visitors along with their geographical location or city-level data.

Google Analytics collects all of this information from each visitor’s google account. Hence, it is important to make sure that you’ve always selected “anonymize IP addresses” in google analytics and ad settings within Google Adwords.
